5 Tips for Being the Best Maid of Honor

Have you recently been asked to be a maid of honor for a wedding? You might be thinking, “Now what?” We are here to help. Today we are sharing 5 tips for being the best maid of honor ever!

Be a Point of Contact for Vendors & Guests

One of the best ways you can be the best maid of honor is by offering to be a point of contact for the celebrated couple’s vendors and guests. For the vendors, this will mainly occur during the wedding rehearsal and the day of the wedding. If a vendor has a quick question or needs to know where an item is (like the rings), you can assist with this.

For guests, some individuals might have questions about accommodations, timing, or even gifts. They will be able to turn to you rather than the couple. Remember being the point of contact simply means you are available so the couple can focus on the fun part of wedding planning. Most of the time, the wedding planner will be able to take care of these questions and needs. You don’t have to know everything about the big day, but staying informed as much as possible is a major help!

Plan a Great Bachelorette Party

This is the classic maid of honor task. Plan a great bachelorette party. Chat with the bride about their vision for this. Do they want to plan a mini trip with all of the bridesmaids or do they want one fun day to party? Ask them about when they would like to plan this too. Then, start searching on Pinterest for inspiration! This pre-wedding event will be a great time for all of the bridesmaids to get to know each other and spend time celebrating the bride. If you need assistance with planning this, recruit help from some of the other bridesmaids. Also, be sure to hire professional vendors depending on the activities you choose!

Remain Positive

Make sure you are a positive source during the entire wedding process. Offer to help out with wedding preparations like dress shopping or packing the decorations. Keep in mind that this is the celebrated couple’s day! Everyone’s design and preferences are different. Be supportive and kind.

Offer Wedding Day Support

When it comes to the day of the wedding, help out from the beginning while still having fun! Help the bride put their dress on, hold the bouquet during the vows, and make sure the bride remains hydrated. Pro-tip: keep a small wedding kit full of beauty essentials, snacks, and water on hand.

Enjoy Your Role

Being the maid of honor does not need to be stressful! Trust the vendor team that the couple has hired to do their jobs, and enjoy your role. Being the best maid of honor means you are enjoying it! Soak in every moment of this special time. It is wonderful to feel invested in the planning process, but don’t let it turn into a negative experience for yourself. Enjoy celebrating, getting dressed up, and being a part of such an important moment.
